Algebra

T. T. Moh “Algebra " World Scientific Pub Co Inc 1997-06 ISBN:9810211953 Djvu 360 pages 4,1 Mb This book comes from the first part of the lecture notes which the author used for a first-year graduate algebra course. The aim of this book is not only to give the students quick access to the basic knowledge of algebra, either for future advancement in the field of algebra, or for general background information, but also to show that algebra is truly a master key or a "skeleton key" to many mathematical problems. As one knows, the teeth of an ordinary key prevent it from opening all but one door; whereas the skeleton key keeps only the essential parts, allow it to unlock many doors. The author wishes to present this book as an attempt to re-establish the contacts between algebra and other branches of mathematics and sciences. Many examples and exercises are included to illustrate the power of intuitive approaches to algebra..

Applications of Functional Analysis and Operator Theory

V. Hutson, J. Pym, M. Cloud “Applications of Functional Analysis and Operator Theory " Elsevier Science 2005-04-08 ISBN:0444517901 PDF 432 pages 16 Mb Functional analysis is a powerful tool when applied to mathematical problems arising from physical situations. The present book provides, by careful selection of material, a collection of concepts and techniques essential for the modern practitioner. Emphasis is placed on the solution of equations (including nonlinear and partial differential equations). The assumed background is limited to elementary real variable theory and finite-dimensional vector spaces. Key Features- Provides an ideal transition between introductory math courses and advanced graduate study in applied mathematics, the physical sciences, or engineering. - Gives the reader a keen understanding of applied functional analysis, building progressively from simple background material to the deepest and most significant results.- Introduces each new topic with a clear, concise explanation.- Includes numerous examples linking fundamental principles with applications.- Solidifies the readers understanding with numerous end-of-chapter problems.• Provides an ideal transition between introductory math courses and advanced graduate study in applied mathematics, the physical sciences, or engineering. • Gives the reader a keen understanding of applied functional analysis, building progressively from simple background material to the deepest and most significant results.• Introduces each new topic with a clear, concise explanation.• Includes numerous examples linking fundamental principles with applications.• Solidifies the reader's understanding with numerous end-of-chapter problems..

Probabilistic Symmetries and Invariance Principles

Olav Kallenberg “Probabilistic Symmetries and Invariance Principles "
Springer 2005-07-27 ISBN:0387251154 510 pages PDF 3,5 Mb

This is the first comprehensive treatment of the three basic symmetries of probability theory - contractability, exchangeability, and rotatability - defined as invariance in distribution under contractions, permutations, and rotations. Originating with the pioneering work of de Finetti from the 1930's, the theory has evolved into a unique body of deep, beautiful, and often surprising results, comprising the basic representations and invariance properties in one and several dimensions, and exhibiting some unexpected links between the various symmetries as well as to many other areas of modern probability. Most chapters require only some basic, graduate level probability theory, and should be accessible to any serious researchers and graduate students in probability and statistics. Parts of the book may also be of interest to pure and applied mathematicians in other areas. The exposition is formally self-contained, with detailed references provided for any deeper facts from real analysis or probability used in the book.

Probability and Statistical Inference

Robert Bartoszynski, Magdalena Niewiadomska-Bugaj “Probability and Statistical Inference" Wiley-Interscience 2008-01-02 ISBN: 0471696935 PDF 647 pages 26,8 Mb

Probability and Statistical Inference, Second Edition is a user-friendly book that stresses the comprehension of concepts instead of the simple acquisition of a skill or tool. It provides a mathematical framework that permits students to carry out various procedures using any number of computer software packages as opposed to relying on one particular package. Its unique approach to problems allows readers to integrate the knowledge gained from the text, thus, enhancing a more complete and honest understanding of the topic.

Dynamics in One Complex Variable

John Milnor “Dynamics in One Complex Variable" Friedrick Vieweg & Son 2000-08 ISBN:3528031301 PDF 146 pages 1,7 Mb

Reader's review:

This is a wonderful book by a master of the subject. It is packed with penetrating insights, illuminating some of the deepest results on dynamics. Its great strength is the bird's-eye view it gives. It is a great place to start the study of complex dynamics. It is not self-contained, so to get the detail on essential ingredients such as uniformization and solving the Beltrami equation one has to go elsewhere. I recommend students to read it alongside Carleson and Gamelin, who take pains to supply full details.

Lectures on Data Security: Modern Cryptology in Theory and Practice

Ivan Damgard “Lectures on Data Security: Modern Cryptology in Theory and Practice" Springer 1999-04-14 ISBN:3540657576 PDF 250 pages 2,4 Mb This tutorial volume is based on a summer school on cryptology and data security held in Aarhus, Denmark, in July 1998. The ten revised lectures presented are devoted to core topics in modern cryptololgy. In accordance with the educational objectives of the school, elementary introductions are provided to central topics, various examples are given of the problems encountered, and this is supplemented with solutions, open problems, and reference to further reading. The resulting book is ideally suited as an up-to-date introductory text for students and IT professionals interested in modern cryptology.

Theory of Markov Processes

E. B. Dynkin “Theory of Markov Processes" Dover Publications 2006-10-06 ISBN: 0486453057 PDF 224 pages 14,2 Mb An investigation of the logical foundations of the theory behind Markov random processes, this text explores subprocesses, transition functions, and conditions for boundedness and continuity. Rather than focusing on probability measures individually, the work explores connections between functions. An elementary grasp of the theory of Markov processes is assumed. 1961 edition.
